Desi Sheridan, a 30-something and very minor actress, is suddenly offered the starring role in a new TV series. What could possibly be the downside? Needless to say, Desi finds out, and it involves not only the machinations of corporate bad guys but the complex realities of trying to make it as an African-American actress in a world dominated by whites. Desi`s two good friends, a producer and an upwardly mobile secretary, have similar agendas and similar problems.
