Blind Lake is a federal research lab where scientists are busily watching the activities of a society of beings who live on a distant planet. Unable to communicate with these aliens, the scientists are forced to simply monitor their lives. Then one day the lab is mysteriously cut off from the rest of human society and one of the scientists working on the project begins to suspect that the aliens themselves are aware of her research--and the fact that they are being monitored. A New York Times Notable Book for 2003.
