A killer is at loose in feudal Japan. He makes his presence known with bundori -- severed heads that serve as war trophies. Detective Sano, a young samurai and former policeman, is retained by the shogun to catch the murder. Now, Sano and his assistant, Aoi--a ninja-trained mystic, must use all their wits to catch the killer.
