A visit to Pancho Villa`s tomb leads horse breeder Jesus to reminisce about the time when he was young and he took in a laborer named Doroteo Arango who was accused of killing a landowner. Arango would become Villa. Later, when the Mexican Civil war breaks out, two of Jesus` Villa-supporting friends must defend him when a man named Fierro wants to execute him for selling a horse to an anti-Villa citizen. Villa steps in when he recognizes Jesus from his pre-war acts of kindness.
