A young boy whose father is off fighting in World War II goes with his mother to spend Christmas with relatives, but the holiday season is dimmed not only by the war, but also because the boy knows this is the last Christmas he will ever spend with his cousin, who is dying. When an uncle overhears the two boys saying that Santa Claus doesn`t exist, he makes a grand gesture to restore their Christmas spirit. Illustrations accompany the text.
