The son of a Baptist preacher resents the fact that, because of his father`s work, the family has recently had to relocate to Detroit. Still, the boy and his father work hard to fix-up the rather rundown new church in time for Christmas. When a roof leak destroys the repairs the boy has made, he is devastated but then relieved when a trip to a secondhand shop results in the purchase of beautiful tapestry which is just the right size to cover the wall damage. What the boy doesn`t know is that by hanging the tapestry in the church he has just brought about the beginnings of a Christmas miracle. Watercolor-and-pencil illustrations accompany the text.
