When one of a pair of twins is murdered in her crib, hard living (and morally challenged) forensic psychiatrist Dr. Frank Clevenger gets the call to investigate the rest of the suspects, a wealthy Nantucket family who not only all seem to have had both motive and opportunity for the killing, but are all also nearly as emotionally damaged as Clevenger himself.
