The pain of growing up amidst the violence of war-torn Rwanda mixes with a pristine joy in the music of French R&B artist Corneille, who appears here live following the success of his debut album, PARCE QU'ON VIENT DE LOIN. An artist whose past is fraught with tragedy--his entire family killed in the Rwandan genocide--Corneille uses his music to speak for the forgotten peoples of the world, yet his songs are nothing less than uplifting and inspiring, a celebration of life itself. The song selection from this concert features a mixture of original songs of the artist's own, which he sings in French, and covers of classic soul and R&B songs; these include Redemption Song, Terre, Sans Rancune, Laissez-Nous Vivre, Roxanne, Ca Me Va, Reves De Star, Parce Qu'On Vient De Loin, Qu'Est-Ce Que Tu Te Fais?, Overjoyed, and Sexual Healing, among others.
