Cowboy Gear grew out of The Idaho Cowboy. The last series of pictures in The Idaho Cowboy were of Raymond Jayo wearing some cuffs and a kidney belt from my collection. When the photos came back, they were so beautiful that I decided to do an entire book on cowboy gear. I also had a yearning to know more about the whole culture of western cowboys. So I got together the most authentic, pre-1920`s gear I could find, and put it on some cowboys and their horses in all types of weather, and I photographed them. This was the first time this gear had ever been photographed outdoors, in color. We created a book that tells the history of the culture, as well as the gear. I pooled together many sources and we ended up with a book that has become the authority on the subject, used by museums, collectors, and Hollywood producers as a reference book. This is a fantastic book, perfect for your coffeetable.
