Every day for a week, Neville has brought the crab man six hermit crabs. And for every one of those days, the crab man has given him a dollar. He`s saving that money to buy his mother a new dress. Although his father works in Jamaica`s sugar cane fields, there isn`t enough money for extras. But when Neville finds out that the crabs are being mistreated, he must choose between earning money and protecting wildlife. This rich story, accompanied by soft yet vibrant illustrations by Cedric Lucas, offers adults an opportunity to engage children in discussions about values, the environment, and earning a living.
