Barbara Stanwyck plays an anti-heroine for the 1950s as ace columnist Kathy Ferguson. Kathy is chic, smart and famous, but she makes a big mistake: she falls in love with an L.A. Detective. Putting all of her energies into helping her unambitious husband become an inspector, Kathy even goes so far as to offer her body to Inspector Pope, her husband`s boss. When he rejects her, she loses control and shoots Pope dead.
