Displeased with the arrival of her new brother, a young girl named Darcy plainly states her feelings: she doesn`t like babies. However, no one takes her feelings seriously--her parents assure her that she`ll eventually love her brother, the doctor tells her that she`s not supposed to like the baby, and a neighbor insists that Darcy does indeed like the baby. Luckily for Darcy, she finds a kindred spirit in her grandmother who proclaims that she doesn`t like babies either. The two spend a wonderful baby-free day at the park doing things that only a big girl like Darcy can do and, as they walk home, they both start to think that babies might not be that bad after all. Charcoal and watercolor illustrations accompany the text.
