As is typical of the protagonists of long-running mystery series, Agatha Christie's brilliant Belgian detective Hercule Poirot cannot go anywhere without people dropping dead in front of him. This time, he is on a flight between Paris and London when Madame Giselle, a discreet moneylender to the more imprudent members of the upper class, is found poisoned. It is clear that one of the passengers (possibly one of her clients) is the murderer, and Poirot must exercise his considerable powers of detection to determine which one.
