One day, while on safari in Africa, the Lazardo family meets a huge, friendly, trumpet-playing dinosaur they name Bob. Unable to leave their new friend behind, the Lazardos decide to bring Bob back home to the United States with them. Although the residents of the Lazardos' hometown of Pimlico Hills are at first intrigued by the family's new pet, they soon decide that their small town is no place for a dinosaur. However, before Bob can be deported back to Africa, he proves that a dinosaur can indeed be a very valuable asset to life in a small town--especially when the dinosaur in question happens to be an excellent baseball player.
