The fourth volume in the East Hampton Historical Collection Series, the collected writings of the founder and editor of the Long Island, New York newspaper theEast Hampton Star. Jeannette Edwards Rattray chronicled a half-century of East Hampton life as a columnist for the weeklyEast Hampton Star from 1923 to 1974 in her column Looking Them Over. A local historian and genealogy specialist, Ms. Rattray served as editor for theStar for four years after the death of her husband, whose family owned the periodical, before turning over her editorial duties to her son. She is the author of 22 books on maritime lore and local history. This volume combines five out-of-print books with four historical pamphlets and eight articles, and is edited by Tom Twomey, a prominent lawyer, historian, and president of the East Hampton Library, as well as the series editor.
