A dragon princess named Shimmer embarks on a quest to recover a stolen magic pebble--a pebble that holds the sea she calls home. Along the way she is joined by an orphan boy named Thorn who, despite Shimmer`s doubts, is able to help her recover the stone. The story, based in part on a Chinese legend, is told in the first person by both Shimmer and Thorn.
