John Shed is a black veteran who lives in the San Francisco area with his white girlfriend. His life is turned upside-down with the sudden arrival of the daughter he left behind years earlier in Vietnam, who is seeking her own identity from her missing father. Father and daughter work together to reconcile their pasts with the present.
