Duncan Rumplemeyer doesn't understand why he has to share (If a toy is fun, why let go of it? Who knows when you'll get it back?). He alienates all his friends at his own birthday party by throwing a savage tantrum when they begin to play with his new toys. He'd already offended his parents by opening his presents the night before without them, then made matters worse by telling his father that he disliked the party clown. Duncan eventually realizes that friends are more important than toys and apologizes to one of them, as a beginning. Author Alexander Stadler's simple line drawings expertly convey the boy's inner tumult. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.
