A retelling of a traditional Chinese legend familiar to most readers via the animated Disney film, Mulan . When Tartars invade China, the Khan decrees that each family must send one of their sons to fight in the army. Fa Mulan`s parents worry that they will be disgraced because they have no sons and thus cannot help protect their country. Anxious to keep her family`s honor, Fa Mulan disguises herself as a man and joins the army. During her adventures, Fa Mulan proves herself to be not only a courageous soldier but also a wise one.
