At the end of each day, a baker named Gershon doesn`t atone for his transgressions, but rather sweeps them into a pile and pushes them all down his basement. Once a year he takes this amassed pile of transgressions and throws it into the black sea. Despite a warning from a wise rabbi, Gershon refuses to atone for his behavior. Then one day he discovers that every one of his misdeeds has come back to haunt him. Illustrated with watercolor paintings. Named one of the Best Children`s Books 2000 by Publishers Weekly.
