Every weekend Audie helps out with the chores on his family`s farm, and after a hard day`s work he is rewarded with a quarter. Audie has been saving his quarters to buy a baseball mitt, and he dreams of the day when he and his father can watch a real major league baseball game together. But his father always says there`s too much work and too little money. On the day when his father finally takes him to see a Reds baseball game, Audie brings his money in anticipation of buying a mitt. The day takes an unexpected turn, but Audie gets a special gift from his father that is far more valuable than any baseball game or mitt. Illustrated with gouache paintings.
