Sarah grows up in Beirut, flees a harsh stepmother to go to college in the U.S., becomes an artist, marries, and remains there. But when her sister is accused of murder, she returns home, and shares with her sister the pain she feels over the loss of their mother, who was divorced by their father years ago when she failed to produce a son.
