Returning to the small town where he spent the summers as boy, scholar Miles Teagarden hopes to accomplish two things: work on his book and fulfill a childhood promise to his cousin (they agreed to meet after 20 years). Shortly after his arrival in town, though, things begin to derail as a number of young girls are raped and murdered and Miles finds himself suspect number one.
