In the Time of the Butterflies

This second novel from author Alvarez is based on actual events in Santo Domingo. The lives of three sisters are explored who lived dangerously under the oppressive dictator, Trujillo, who imprisoned, tortured, and killed his own people with impunity. Dede, the fourth sister, narrates the sequence of events that lead to her sisters` murders.
