Betsy is about to take off for a new life in Guatemala with her photographer boyfriend, David. But just before she leaves New York, she discovers that her long-dead father may in fact still be alive. Dad was a controversial figure, a union organizer who annoyed a lot of people and had to answer to the HUAC--and ended up in jail as a result. Now she wonders if he faked his death in order to escape his tormenters.
