First published in Canada in 1999, KIT`S LAW details the turbulent adolescence of young Kit, whose mother is mentally deficient and whose father is missing. Upon the death of Kit`s grandmother--the only rock of stability in her chaotic life--the well-meaning but sanctimonious neighbors try to separate mother and daughter, sending Kit to an orphanage and her mother to an insane asylum--a situation Kit resists with all her heart.
