Legs is is the first novel in Kennedy`s Albany Trilogy. Legs Diamond was a real gangster who dominated the Albany underworld during Prohibition. The novel is told from the point of view of his attorney, Marcus Gorman, who reflects from the remove of several years on the times, career, and hero worship of the famous criminal. The novels are set in Albany, New York in the 1930s. While some characters recur in the novels, each is set in a different social milieu so the reader can see the era from different points of view. The second volume of the trilogy is Billy Phelan`s Greatest Game and the third, Ironweed.
