Shiraishi`s first collection of poems, published in an English translation in the 1970s, was hailed as Japan`s own contribution to Beat poetics. This volume culls work from the several collections she has published since, offering English translations of poems drawn from many stages in Shiraishi`s career as a beloved poet both of Japan and of the international poetry community.
