The second in Jewish Light`s three-volume series, Lifecyles, V.2 continues the series` stated goal of connecting women and Judaism, in this instance focusing on what its editors call the permeable boundary between autobiography and biblical texts. Using midrash and gender analysis to interpret texts, 50 women rabbis, writers, and scholars engage the Hebrew scriptures in a most personal manner, exploring themes traced from Genesis through Deuteronomy and their relevance to women`s lives today. In their effort to empower women to speak and respect their own words of Torah, the authors seek to expose their readers to a variety of models for understanding life themes and `living off Scripture.`
