A triptych of loosely interwoven love stories, LOVE SONGS`s theme is the resuscitation of faded love. Braugher`s piece of the trilogy, A Love Song for Dad, stars Gossett as a frustrated father whose son has bought in to the violence of the street, and who attempts to teach him that violence is not the answer. Gossett`s segment, A Love Song for Champ, stars Townsend as a boxer trying to make some fast cash to alleviate his money troubles. Finally, Townsend`s story, A Love Song for Jean and Ellis, stars Whitfield and Braugher as the title characters, a beautiful woman and a simple fruit vendor, respectively, who are surprised when they find that love can overcome appearances.
