This is a collection of stories set in Narayan`s recurring imaginary city of Malgudi. The stories feature an astrologer, a snake charmer, a letter carrier, a pie vendor and other seemingly ordinary people. The stories are republished from two previous collections, An Astrologer`s Day and Lawley Road , with the exception of eight new stories.
