Bruce Chilton, Bell Professor of Religion at Bard College, provides a historical account of the life of Jesus in first-century Palestine. His approach, unlike other biographies, is to focus particularly on the Jewish elements of the literary and archeological evidence and to offer psychological insights to Christ, the man.
