This story is set in 1923, a time when long-distance telephone calls were not very usual and took hours to place. A more common method of communication was the new wireless radio, and a young boy learns Morse code so that he can become an amateur radio operator. The boy enjoys communicating with people all over the world, but then one day he get a distress message from Florida--a family has been stranded in a flood. Will the boy be able to use Morse code to help rescue the family? This story is based on the author`s own father`s experiences. Color illustrations accompany the text.
