Riddley Walker is a 12-year-old boy in a post-nuclear holocaust. Wandering through the rubble of his world, speaking and narrating his story in a crippled English, Riddley Walker strains to remember the world as it was before the bombs fell, to have some sort of coherent past to hand over to the people who will survive him. Impressionable, perceptive, yet nevertheless a young boy, Riddley Walker examines not only his new world and contrasts it with the old, but examines his own reactions to the strangeness around him.
