An early rock legend with an extraordinarily voice and epic, melodramatic songs on a matching grand scale, Roy Orbison blazed a trail for lonesome and lovesick musicians and fans alike. Perceived by some as lacking in the looks and charisma expected of a rock star, he more than made up for it with an operatic voice and melancholy songs to which a broad audience could relate. After his early successes, first as a rockabilly singer with Sun Records, and later finding a lasting persona as a singer of brooding, haunting Ballads with Monument Records, Orbison was eclipsed by the British invasion and his personal life was afflicted by a string of tragedies. He experienced a comeback late in life with the inclusion of In Dreams on David Lynch's BLUE VELVET soundtrack, and resurrected his classic sound with his final album, MYSTERY GIRL. The performance featured here was recorded in 1972 as Orbison performed his hits, accompanied by a full orchestra.DVD Features:Region 1Keep CaseFull Frame - 1.33Audio: Dolby Digital 5.1 - English DTS Surround 5.1 - EnglishAdditional Release Material: Production Interviews Bonus Shorts - 1.
