Paul Wedekind works as a fisherman off the coast of Rhode Island. Ostensibly a refugee from East Germany, Paul had, in fact, entered the United States as a KGB agent, only to fall in love with Suleika, one of his Stasi contacts. Together they try to escape the clutches of both the Party and the CIA and make a new life for themselves, but current politics and their own pasts threaten to expose and overwhelm them.
