The Second Stage, first published in 1981, follows The Feminine Mystique and It changed My Life in Friedan's trilogy of feminist writings. It is comprised of articles, essays, addresses, and reviews, and focuses on a struggle not yet won. She acknowledges gains and successes of the women's movement, but sees a greater challenge, one of living day to day by feminist principles in a world that is still not entirely ready for real equality for women. Importantly, she addresses the role of men in her vision of a new world. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.
