At the end of the Roman Empire, a young werewolf is left alone after her father`s mysterious death and adopted by her uncle and his sister. While her uncle tries to arrange to marry her off, he keeps her locked in a tower until she escapes. In the days that follow, she encounters an assortment of individuals, both fictional and historical; learns of her royal lineage; and seeks further clues to her past.
