Caring for a wounded bird, which rewards her with a white feather, forever changes the life of 12-year-old Xandra Hobson. Suspecting that the feather is magical, Xandra brings it to school with her, where it attracts the attention of another student--a rather strange loner named Belinda. Belinda informs Xandra that the feather is the key to a magical, but potentially evil, world.
