The narrator's mother is only in her 70s, but she is beginning to lose her bearings, and before long she has to leave her Manhattan apartment for a retirement home. Her son, who has some long-held resentments against his mother, finds that her new status enables him to think of her more kindly, and to come to terms with the past. Both main characters in this sad and tender novel remain nameless. Copyright (C) Muze Inc. 2005. For personal use only. All rights reserved.
