Trojan Eddie (Stephen Rea), a low-level flunky in a family of Irish swindlers known as travelers, suffers a case of torn loyalties after one of the junior members absconds with the willing young bride of the family`s boss (Richard Harris)--and with the dowry money, as well. While trying to clean up the mess, Eddie also contends with his own sloppy lovelife and bleak future.
