An apocalyptic portrait of Los Angeles in the 21st century. Rafaela, the narrator, flees the city to take a job as a house-sitter in Mexico, where she discovers a macabre ring selling body parts on the black market. She returns to L.A. and contacts Gabriel, the news reporter whose house she had been watching. Gabriel is busy trying to track down a series of disappearances among the homeless, and the two of them join forces to investigate the seamier sides of urban life and its miseries.
