It`s right after the end of WWII, and Henry works for Mr. Hairston, a brutal, bigoted man who Henry suspects is beating his daughter. Henry has befriended Holocaust-survivor Mr. Levine, who is carving a replica of his village, destroyed in the war. Henry`s friendship with Mr. Levine is put to the test when Mr. Hairston demands that Henry destroy Mr. Levine`s village.
