In this novel set in occupied France during World War II, a girl named Jo learns that one of her neighbors is secretly helping Jewish children flee the Nazis. Even though knows she will be killed if the Nazis discover what she is doing, Jo begins to take part in a plan that will help the children escape to Spain.
