Although it has been 10 years, 14-year-old Feena is still dealing with her grief over the SIDS-related death of her younger brother, Christopher. Settling into a new home with her divorced mother, Feena is appalled when she sees a neighbor repeatedly abusing her toddler, a boy who also happens to be named Christopher. When Christopher`s mother apparently abandons him, Feena steps in and begins to care for him herself.
