Harry Shapiro's well-written book (fully revised and updated from an earlier version) is a feast of facts, fables and anecdotes: Detective Sergeant'Nobby' Pilcher shouting Postman, Special Delivery into the entry phone before barging into the warren of flats known as The Pheasantry in a fruitless search for Eric Clapton. Crosby talking to Dylan about acid and being told: Man, haven't you done that enough? As time would tell, there was no such thing as enough for Crosby.
