Sam Kashner reminisces fondly about the education he received--in both literature and life--at the Jack Kerouac School of Disembodied Poetics at the Naropa Institute in Colorado. A Buddhist-oriented college established in 1974, Naropa`s unorthodox curriculum included valuable writing instruction supplemented by close involvement in the daily lives and habits (both good and bad) of Kashner`s teachers, who included Allen Ginsberg, Gregory Corso, William Burroughs, and Anne Waldman.
