While on a diplomatic mission to a semi-neutral planet in a galactic war, a young lieutenant accidently insults an aristocrat, thus causing an increase in hostilities. As the various sides in the conflict rush additional troops to the fray and a secret agent tries to raise the stakes, the officer desperately tries to contain the situation.
