Kindergarten teacher Vivian Gussin Paley looks at one of the most common problems of the classroom and school--what to do when classmates isolate a child. Paley solicited children`s feelings on the issue, and tells how, by establishing a non-exclusionary rule and using it for discussion, she was able to gradually change students` behavior for the better.
